Long Time Favorites

After many years of trying out product after product always looking for something better, I’ve ended up being more brand and product loyal than I could have imagined. I’m not sure if all the experimentation was necessary to get to this point, or if I’ve just become more adept at researching before buying as opposed to buying it and forming an opinion from nothing. Today I’m going to introduce to you all my favorite products that I have repurchased more time’s than I can count–these are my go to’s and I know they’ll always work for me.

Mac Face and Body Foundation is a classic for just about everyone who’s used it. When I first purchased this I hated it because it felt like it would never set and my brushes absorbed it all up like a sponge. Turns out this is a product where your hands are absolutely necessary to achieving the perfect finish this product is capable of. When you apply this, it’s a very thin liquid. I rub it in circles on my face in sections with my hands. At first it feels very slippery, like it won’t ever set. After a few more seconds it starts to turn tacky and stick to the skin. A couple more seconds and it sets to a seamless, very natural skin-like finish. It goes from feeling really odd on the skin to weightless when you use your hands. The coverage is light to medium, depending on if you double layer or not. One thing I cannot emphasize enough is how much this looks like skin on the face. It’s the easiest way to fake a perfect and even complexion without looking like you have any product on.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara is without a doubt the best mascara I have ever tried. I’ve used this almost exclusively for the past five years. It’s best after the tube has been in use for a few weeks–I hate wet mascara formulas and this one dries out beautifully. Whenever I get a new tube I leave it open overnight and it’s perfect. It holds curl, doesn’t flake, gives volume, length, and fullness to my lashes. It’s better than any high end mascara I’ve ever used. Too Faced Better than sex gives a similar result, but this one doesn’t flake. I don’t even feel the need to experiment anymore with mascara because of this.

NARS Laguna Bronzing Powder has a cult-status reputation for a reason. This is bronzer for the warm-toned babes of the world. If you have yellow or olive undertones, you’ll know that your skin makes anything put on top pull warm. That means almost any bronzer with a red, pink, or orange undertone is going to turn your face into the color of a traffic cone. The color of this bronzer is perfection–it’s a warm brown with yellow and olive undertones. It makes my skin look the way it does when I tan. The powder itself is finely milled and never patches up or clings to any spots on the skin. It’s matte as all bronzer’s should be, without being flat. I’ve used this product throughout high school and college, and am still using it as a post-grad. I can’t even count how many I’ve gone through over the years.
